Ryerson Market Spotlight: Peter Piper’s Pastry Shoppe

Peter Piper’s Pastry Shoppe sells delicious treats at the Ryerson Farmer’ Market. They bake with butter and source fresh local fruits and honey from sustainable farmers to help support local families. They even try to source some of their produce from the Ryerson Urban Farm! Peter Maida, owner and pastry chef of Peter Piper’s, has always loved to cook. As a child, he would help his Nonna in the kitchen while the other kids played outside. He studied culinary arts at Humber College and has two culinary degrees, along with an internship at one of Toronto’s top pastry shops. He decided to follow his dream and opened Peter Piper’s in 2012.

Peter Piper’s specializes in Italian desserts with a modern twist. They are known for their baked amarettis, cannolis and biscottis. Amarettis are light, bite- sized, almond cookies with a crunchy crust and soft inside.

Peter Piper’s guarantees the freshest products made from scratch. Their market goodies include $3 butter tarts and brownies, $4 banana bread and $5 caramel corn. They also have a variety of crumbles and pies for $10 and $12 including cherry, apple, blueberry and pecan.
