Phancy Food brings your nostalgic childhood favourite foods to the market and reinvents them. Classic dishes are revamped with a modern and multicultural spin. Phancy Food places heavy emphasis on hospitality and bringing a homey feel to their food. Their philosophy is that good food should come from good sources; Phancy Food purchases the majority of their ingredients from local distributors.
Megan Bowden is the founder and heart of Phancy Food. She has years of experience in restaurants and in catering. She started catering as a hobby for her friends and her passion for food eventually turned into a business. Phancy Food allows Megan to realize her culinary vision by taking familiar and playful food and transforming them into upscale and unforgettable dishes.
Phancy Food’s market menu consists of a chilled vermicelli slaw, triple decker grilled cheese, pastry wrapped hot dog, popcorn and homemade condiments. Their famous grilled cheese is layered with homemade pimento cheese and smoked tomato ketchup. Prices on their menu range from $3 to $7.
This is Phancy Food’s first year at the Ryerson Market and they fit in perfectly with the laid back and social atmosphere. Megan’s favourite part of working at the market is having people enjoy her food and seeing them return for their favourite dishes.
